Sales communication

I’ve seen it, I’ve lived it, and I’ve been on the receiving side of it. Email-to-meeting isn’t an easy transition to make, so here are a few tips to make sure you are adding the value your prospect deserves:

  1. Set a clear ask in your email

  2. If you get a response, be respectful of the prospects time, don’t just send them a calendly link and ask them to find a time that is convenient for YOU

  3. Once they book, send several automated updates so they are reminded you have an upcoming meeting

  4. On the call, communicate clearly your goals for the discussion ( “My goal for our call today is to ____________. Is that a fair way to run today’s call?” )

  5. Manage your follow up appropriately

This level of sincerity will have your prospect saying, “By George, that guy/gal knows how to communicate clearly.” That’s what we are all about in sales, after all.

The Tinder

3 nuclear subject lines that will get prospects to open your email.

  1.  [Their Business’s] new (your product/services)

Watch out for spam score, but this should generate an awesome open rate

  2.  The last thing you’d expect - [their business]

This creates great personalization, and may be enticing enough to get them to open up. Make sure your email provides them with enough relevance to this subject line.

  3. Are you think about (your product/services), [Their Name]?

What we love about this email is that it is very straight forward. You aren’t getting them to open something they aren’t interested in, prompting a spam blemish.

The Kindling

2 software platforms to consider using in your outreach

  1. Apollo.io

Apollo is the first place to start if you’re getting into email marketing. It has all that you will need in one place for a very manageable cost, and will enable your team to get off the ground without tons of complicated infrastructure.

    1. There is a free version to get started, and paid accounts start around $60/mo

  1. LinkedIn Sales Navigator

Give credit where credit is due. LISN is a great way to engage prospects, learn a little more info, and send messages directly to those you think would be a good fit for your product and service.

    1. Linked In is free, of course, and Sales Navigator starts around $79.99 per month

The Fuelwood

1 Atomic Offer They Can’t Refuse

This has to be based on your individual business, and in each newsletter we will give an example of an offer someone would have to be CrAZy to turn down!

A few years ago I was looking at purchasing an ice-cream parlor. One thing that I thought would really ignite their visibility in the community was to have not only seasonal events, but weekly events. Not just on Tuesdays or Fridays, but EVERY NIGHT.

Atomic offer - Every night of the week someone gets a free cone. Mom’s Monday. Toddler’s Tuesday. Pet’s Wednesday. Grandparent’s Thursday. Father Friday. Super Saturdays and Sundays (buy a large cone, get a small cone free).

The thought here is that every single night you are giving away free stuff… and every single night you’re also giving a family a reason to come in to your establishment. I’d have to be CRAZY not to go once per week… Right?

Go get it started! If you’re looking to start a business and need help, or are looking to increase sales velocity, please reach out to [email protected].

Here are our recommended steps to getting started:

  1. Get your website up - this is a digital home for your business

  2. Know where and how you’re going to sell - whether you sell services or watermelons, know how you’re going to get customers

  3. Get your LLC setup - this can be done quite easily, Youtube can point you in the right direction, and so can we

  4. Get your first client - reach out to friends and family and get your product moving

  5. Market your hot-buns off - free giveaways, paid ads, social media, email marketing, etc. Just get out there and get the eyeballs you need

  6. Watch the fire grow!!!!!!!!!!!
